Start of the Team Squash Season

This email is mainly aimed at the squash players who have recently joined and players who would like to improve their squash and understanding of the rules and how to play the sport.

You will notice that the squash courts are block booked on Thursday evening under NWCSL Team Squash (NWCSL = North West Counties Squash League) The season starts next Thursday and runs up to next April. S & B Squash have four teams competeing this season in divisions 2, 3 (2 teams) and 5.

When I first started playing squash in 1978 the coach I had at the time said that one of the best ways to get to understand the game, how to play it, understanding the rules and how to play with a marker (referee), how to play safely; asking for lets etc. is to come down and watch our team squash players in action. I took his advice and I have done so ever since; that is an awful lot of squash.

Why not come and watch, support your club's players, have a couple of beers and learn about squash. It is free a evening of entertainment. Probably better that what is on TV. There is lots of room for spectators.

Matches start from 7.00 pm There are 5 players in each team, We have 3 teams at home for the first time ever, that is 15 matches, so it is a busy evening. Matches go on to after 10.00 pm.

With regards

Brian Birch (Chairman)
