50 Years of Squash At S & B
Way back in 1973 squash was an extremely popular sport in the UK, with over fifteen hundred players in Southport alone. At the time, the town had two squash clubs, with a total of seven courts. To cash in on this popularity, the committee at Southport & Birkdale Cricket Club decided to build two squash courts funded by an £82000 loan from Walker Tetley brewery. The courts were built and opened in 1974. Fifty years later S & B Squash, are now, one of the leading clubs in the North West of England. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Squash at S & B Sports Club we are holding a dinner party with a two course table service dinner, with music provided by top Southport DJ Paul Tasker, karaoke, & raffle.
